PRIVACY POLICY
This policy explains what ConnectDis collects, why, and what control you and — for younger players — your parent or guardian have. It covers the ConnectDis app for iOS and Android and the pages served at connectdis.app. Fields in gold brackets are the only parts intended for your legal counsel to fill in.
WHO WE ARE
ConnectDis is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("ConnectDis", "we"), registered at [REGISTERED ADDRESS], Kingdom of Bahrain, company registration [CR NUMBER]. We are the data controller for the personal data described here under the Bahrain Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and, where it applies to users in the EEA/UK, the GDPR.
WHAT WE COLLECT
Account basics. Email address, password (stored hashed), your @handle, and your date of birth. Your birthday is used once to set your age group and is never shown to other users.
Guardian details (under-16s only). The name and email address of the parent or guardian who approves the account, and the approval record.
Location. Approximate and precise device location while the app is in use, if you allow it — used only to show venues and games near you. We do not collect location in the background.
Game data. Games you join or create, scores and per-player statistics entered by scorekeepers, results, confirmations, Elo ratings, streaks and tiers.
Messages. Chat messages inside team and game channels. Minors can only message within games and teams they belong to; we do not offer open DMs to under-18 accounts.
Live video. When a game is streamed with the multi-camera feature, we process the video feeds contributed by volunteer camera operators, the mixed program output, and any recording the director saves.
Device & usage. Device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and coarse usage events (screens opened, features used) to keep the app working.
HOW WE USE IT
To run the service: matching you with nearby games, keeping score, computing rankings, powering team chat and live streams. To keep it safe: age gating, guardian approval, moderation of reported content, and anti-cheat review of suspicious results. To improve it: aggregate, de-identified analytics. To reach you: service emails (results to confirm, guardian requests); marketing messages only with a separate opt-in.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising to accounts under 18.
CHILDREN & GUARDIANS
ConnectDis is for players aged [13]+ years. An account holder under 16 must have a parent or guardian approve the account by email before it activates. The guardian sees exactly what they are approving: visibility in nearby games, chat inside the player’s own games and teams, and appearing in live streams.
No public profiles for minors. Shareable profile links exist only for users verified as 18 or older. An under-18 profile never has a public URL.
Guardian controls. Guardians can withdraw consent, request the account’s data, or request deletion at any time via the guardian email on file.
Streaming and minors. A minor appears in live streams only if their guardian approved streaming at signup (it can be declined separately). Camera-operator and scorekeeper roles are open to minors only inside their own games.
LOCATION
Location is optional. Without it, you can still search by city or venue name. With it, the map centres on you and shows nearby pins. Other players never see your location — they see the venue’s location. You can turn location off in system settings at any time; nothing else in the app breaks.
LIVE STREAMS & RECORDINGS
Streams are visible to spectators who follow the game, and — when the director connects an external destination — on YouTube or Facebook under those platforms’ own terms and privacy policies. The live scorebug shown on stream comes from the game’s scorekeeper feed.
Joining a streamed game is consent to appear on camera. The game page shows a streaming notice before you join. If you join, you may appear in the broadcast and its recording.
Recordings. The master device may record the program output. Recordings are kept by the director who made them; when uploaded through ConnectDis they follow this policy and can be reported for removal.
RETENTION & DELETION
Account data is kept while the account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is erased or de-identified within 30 days; confirmed match results remain in opponents’ histories with your handle replaced by “deleted player”. Chat messages are retained for [12] months. Guardian approval records are kept as long as the minor’s account exists, as our lawful-basis evidence. Crash and usage logs are retained for [90] days.
YOUR RIGHTS
You (or your guardian, for under-16 accounts) can access, correct, export, or delete your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent, from Settings → Privacy or by emailing [privacy@connectdis.app]. You can complain to the Bahrain Personal Data Protection Authority or your local supervisory authority.
SECURITY
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access inside the team is role-limited and logged. Passwords are hashed with a modern algorithm. If a breach is likely to put you at risk, we will notify you and the regulator within the legally required window.
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Our servers are in [HOSTING REGION]. Where data leaves your jurisdiction (for example EEA/UK users), transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We will notify you in-app of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect; for changes affecting minors’ data we also email the guardian. The current version always lives at connectdis.app/privacy.
